Thanks to a small prompt on the Serendipity forums and some recent experience with teTeX on Solaris, I went ahead and modified the Serendipity MimeTex plugin to allow users to choose their render engine. The difference in quality is pretty incredible. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use the LateX Render Library as-is, since I modified it to allow users to define paths from with the plugin. Once I had done that, it become apparent the debugging output wasn’t very useful, so I changed some of that, too.

But I never enabled debug output for the plugin, so my changes don’t matter a whole lot...

Ok, I’ve added a new version of the usergallery plugin to CVS.

It has configurable title and subpage control, and when it is used with a recent 0.9 build, it will allow the user to set the directory to display.

And thanks to Stefan Willoughby it now offers a thumbnail view with pictures opening in a new window, which allows the user to control which directory is viewed! (Which sounds kind of like this idea...)

I posted a new version of this plugin in CVS. It now supports permalinks (in the root directory only), and uses css to present image information (so the picture is centered).

Unfortunately, this plugin is severely limited by it’s reliance on Serendipity core functions. But I do feel it is important to continue using the core functions, or else it will end up a bloated mess like Linklist.

I’m going to give it a little time and see how much the problems bother me. If they bother me enough I will probably dig into serendipity_displayImageList() and see what I can do.

I just finished updating the mimetex plugin for Serendipity blog to support LaTeX tables better (and to allow it to play nice with url rewrite).

So now I can do things like this:


For those who don’t know, LaTeX is a markup language used to format documents, and is used heavily in math departments (just so I don’t sound like I’m being dirty).

You can download the plugin from the Serendipity plugin webpage. Or it should be available using Spartacus.

I just added two new plugins to CVS... they are:

serendipity_event_mimetex.tar.gz: An s9y plugin/wrapper for mimetex... Allows the creation of images from TeX strings and offers an easy way to embed images in a post. (A button using javascript)

And:
serendipity_event_typesetbuttons.tar.gz: (this is a expansion of the space button plugin in the previous post) adds buttons to the entry toolbar offering the following encoded characters:
   Space
   &
   Em Dash
   En Dash
   Bullet
   Double Quotes
   Single Quotes
   "Apostrophe" (technically end single quote)
   Accent
   Grave Accent

Now I can't wait to upgrade to Serendipity 0.8...

I'm still working on the linklist plugin, and I'm now trying to incorporate an entry_display page... *sigh*
I should quit while I'm ahead (and while the plugin is only slightly bloated).
