We like
Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe. Mike seems like an intelligent guy who has some real skill at crafting entertaining segments, especially considering he works under conditions that would cause most people in entertainment to curl up and die.
We respect that. So we watch it when we can.
And what we like most about the show is that Mr. Rowe seems honest and open and truly sympathetic to people in the world. He isn’t there to glorify a dirty job, but he isn’t there to laugh at it either. He is just there to show people what the job is really like, and to show you the kind of person who does it every day.
That type of example teaches empathy and understanding.
And so, as we were watching the episode called
Snake Researcher today and commenting on how painful the snake bites looked, we were pleased to see our daughter became concerned about the pain Mike was suffering. It showed that she is beginning to learn empathy for people.
See the empathy:
The funny thing is that if he was standing there in person she would be hiding behind the couch.
