So you can kind of understand why she already regrets getting me a new camera for my birthday.

Today I saw someone doing Tai Chi Chuan while riding a bicycle.

Seriously. It was one of the weirder things I have seen in a while.

There are, of course, two ways to do Tai Chi on a bicycle. There is the really cool way, which is probably what you are imagining, and then there is the really unbalanced, goofy looking way that the guy was doing it today.

Hopefully he doesn’t give up because I bet his balance will get a lot better if he keeps trying.

Plus, he was doing Tai Chi and he owned a bicycle, which are two things that don’t intersect with my life at all, let alone at the same point, so I probably can’t say a whole lot.

The last meaning refers to the Latin term decimatio, a form of military punishment in which every tenth man (in a group to be punished) was executed. It was used when Roman commanders were really pissed off (for example, Crassus used it during the war with Spartacus to punish cowardice.)

What is the point of all this?

The point is that while the first couple meanings are the most common usage, the most proper usage would probably be “to reduce in number by a tenth”.

I thought that such a precise definition of the word was interesting.
