So, we had Alphie’s 18 month appointment today.
She has not gained any weight since her last appointment. She has, however, managed to grow three inches.
Her statistics are now:
Height: 90%
Weight: 25%
Head Circumference: 65%
Scowling Ability: 110%
Yeah, there was a stupid joke in there. I’m tired and sick, so I plead brain-dead as a defense.
Overall the doctor was very pleased with Alphie’s development, and Angie and I were glad to hear that Alphie seems pretty normal.
The doctor was not especially pleased with Alphie’s lack of language use, though. Alphie used to have five or six words that she would use, but has recently taken to not using any words whatsoever. The only time she uses a word is when she pretends to talk on the phone and starts out by saying “Hi!” Other than that she rarely ever uses words, and never uses them when prompted.
Apparently, most girls her age have roughly twenty words.
So the doctor recommended we take her to have a language screening. Not really sure how to set that up, but we will try to get it done before she starts daycare in two weeks, I guess.
