For real, this time. You have known for some time how to make various noises come out of your mouth. Some of them have been screams, some of them have been shouts of joy, some of them have been words and some of them have been the little plaintive noises you use when you really want to break your mom and dad’s hearts.
However, today you figured out two separate noises that required you to think about how to make them.
First, you demonstrated the age-old sign for “Going Crazy” by figuring out that you can drag you finger up and down on your lips to make a “bwib-bweb-wbib-bwib-beeb-bweb” noise. Then you made your mom and dad do it, just to make sure that we understood what you were doing.
The second noise you figured out is actually a little more interesting (to me, at least). You figured out, apparently spontaneously, that you could click your tongue by placing it on the roof of your mouth and sucking down. You were climbing around on your mom and dad, and generally being a monkey, when you made this noise five or six times in a row.
You offered it up to the world with a nonchalance that re-affirms my belief that you practice things when you are in your crib at night.
Your mother and I were very impressed.
Then your mom did it back to you and it was your turn to be impressed.
So now, you know how to make some mouth noises, and you tend to use them socially by appealing to your mom and dad to do them with you. So far it is working.
